Yesterday, the Israeli military killed U.S. activist Aysenur Ezgi Eygi during her participation in a solidarity protest with Palestinians in Nablus, West Bank. Despite the clear responsibility of the occupation forces for her death, the White House merely expressed concern, in contrast to its strong reaction following the death of an Israeli-American dual-national prisoner, where it vowed that Hamas would pay a price and held it accountable despite uncertainty about the actual party responsible.

As the White House continues to discuss efforts to address what it calls “negotiation gaps” in the proposed Gaza agreement, Israeli officials have stated that there are currently no viable opportunities for reaching a deal. Meanwhile, public frustration with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is rising. According to Channel 12’s survey, 60% of respondents believe that the priority should be on retrieving prisoners rather than staying in the Philadelphi Corridor. Additionally, 43% of those surveyed hold Netanyahu responsible for the failure on October 7, and 40% support Naftali Bennett as Prime Minister compared to 20% for Netanyahu.

Netanyahu’s support continues to wane as daily protests persist, while he and his allies remain in denial. The war on Gaza, initiated by Netanyahu with the objectives of retrieving prisoners and defeating Hamas and other resistance groups, now enters its twelfth month. There is widespread agreement within Israel that achieving these goals exceeds the capabilities of the occupying forces, a fact openly acknowledged by their leaders.

On the supportive fronts, the Israeli military has failed to secure any significant military victories or achievements. Regarding the displaced settlers from northern occupied Palestine, following Hezbollah’s announcement of turning the Lebanese front into a support front for Gaza, Israeli leaders have neglected their promises to return settlers to their homes before September 1, the start of the school year.
Additionally, there has been no effective response to Yemen’s success in closing the Red Sea to ships bound for Israeli ports for the past ten months.
