When the occupying entity accuses the resistance of actions that justify retaliation, such as the claim that the Gaza resistance used the Al-Shifa Medical Complex as an operations centre, the American acted smart and retracted all prior statements that warned against targeting hospitals and instead said that his intelligence sources confirm the occupying army’s claim that Al-Qassam’s operations headquarters is in Al-Shifa. But when the occupation stormed the complex, killing doctors and patients, and bombed the hospital without providing a shred of evidence, the American conveniently fell silent.
When the Majdal Shams stadium was bombed, the American, within hours, swiftly backed the occupying entity’s accusation that Hezbollah was behind the attack. He coupled this with his usual endorsement of the occupation’s so-called “right to self-defence”. Yet, after the occupation bombed the Dahiya and assassinated Commander Fouad Shukr, the American shifted roles, suddenly advocating for de-escalation. Following the assassination of Commander Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, the American chose to play dumb, claiming he was still gathering facts and lacked sufficient information to take a position.
After the occupation’s large-scale crime in Lebanon, the U.S. State Department spokesperson sounded like he was speaking for a small island nation in the Caribbean – claiming to have no information. Then the Pentagon spokesperson was asked about the operation, and he, too, said he had no details. When questioned if the occupation had carried out the attack and whether it was justified, he responded that he wasn’t a legal expert to judge.
In one of the many times the occupation committed horrific massacres, White House and National Security Council spokesman John Kirby was asked whether Israel should be accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity. He responded that he wasn’t a lawyer. When reminded that he had labelled Hamas’ actions as terrorism without being a legal expert, he said, “Because, in our view, Hamas is a terrorist organisation, and Israel is a friendly state”.
Whether the American is acting smart or playing dumb, it’s always about covering up the occupying entity’s crimes – nothing more, nothing less.
