The Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, has departed the stage, leaving behind a legacy that defined three decades. He was a master strategist of war and politics, one of the most influential players in the region. Sayyed Nasrallah, the Master of Resistance, has become a martyr on the path to Jerusalem. There was no fate more fitting for him than martyrdom, and no martyrdom more noble than that on the path to Jerusalem – a cause that was his compass, his passion, and to which he sacrificed his life.
He fought for Palestine when the world had abandoned it and its right to live, when its people were forsaken by the Arabs and left to face settlement, Judaization, and open violence alone. Sayyed Nasrallah rallied the resistance forces across the region, forming a united front, with Iran and Syria’s support, and the participation of Yemen and Iraq, to defend Palestine. This axis of resistance successfully stymied the occupying entity’s war on Gaza, its resistance, and its people, bringing the war to a stalemate. In response, Washington empowered the occupying entity to shift the balance of power by targeting the Lebanese resistance. This effort culminated in a lethal operation, beginning with sabotaging Hezbollah’s pager and communication systems, followed by devastating airstrikes on the south, the Bekaa Valley, and Beirut’s southern suburbs, accompanied by a campaign of assassinations targeting Hezbollah leaders and cadres.
The operation reached its apex with the assassination of Sayyed Nasrallah in an airstrike conducted two days ago by F-35 jets, which used advanced heavy bombs, deploying 85 tons of explosives that penetrated deep underground. Sayyed Nasrallah was martyred, along with fellow commanders, cadres, and his guards. Hezbollah eulogised him yesterday, vowing to continue his path. Sources close to Hezbollah’s leadership indicated that the organisation is now focused on rebuilding and electing a new Secretary-General to succeed Sayyed Nasrallah, one who will lead the resistance until the victory Nasrallah promised is achieved.
The martyrdom of Sayyed Nasrallah sent shockwaves across the nations and forces of the resistance. Mourning was declared in Beirut, Damascus, Baghdad, Sanaa, and Tehran. Leaders who had long worked with Sayyed Nasrallah and were stunned by his martyrdom issued statements of condolence. Hamas and Islamic Jihad pledged to continue the resistance until victory. Imam Ali Khamenei eulogised him, affirming that victory will come through the hands of the resistance. Grand Ayatollah Ali Sistani, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani, the leader of Yemen’s Ansar Allah movement Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi, Lebanese Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri, and Syrian Social Nationalist Party President Asaad Hardan also mourned him, while Moscow condemned the assassination.
