The occupying entity’s media outlets rushed to report on the outcomes of high-level security meetings chaired by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, addressing the Lebanese front and the future of a proposed ceasefire agreement. These reports converged on spreading optimistic claims about an imminent deal with Lebanon. Some even stated that the ‘green light’ had been given to U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein to finalise the agreement. However, Hochstein quickly refuted these claims, calling them inaccurate. Later remarks attributed to Netanyahu reiterated demands for freedom of action within Lebanese territories and airspace, undermining the likelihood of any imminent agreement. Lebanon has repeatedly conveyed to Hochstein its outright rejection – explicitly or implicitly – of such demands, deeming them blatant violations of its sovereignty.
The Israeli narrative seemed aimed at addressing public outrage over the Iron Dome’s failure to protect against the resistance’s rockets, which marked a significant escalation yesterday. Over 400 rockets rained down on settlements, spanning from the Lebanese border to southern Tel Aviv – up to 150 kilometres deep into Israeli territory. Meanwhile, battlefield reports contradicted Israeli claims of military achievements. The resistance destroyed 10 tanks: six in al-Bayyada, two in Deir Mimas, and two in Khiam. The resistance also announced 51 operations yesterday, setting a record compared to its daily operations data.
The resistance’s actions yesterday solidified the Tel Aviv-for-Beirut equation, as pledged by Hezbollah’s Deputy Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem. This principle became inevitable after the Basata massacre, which resulted in 100 casualties – dead and injured. In retaliation, successive rocket salvos targeted Tel Aviv at various intervals, leaving behind fires and destruction. Media reports described buildings at risk of collapse.
Simultaneously, fierce ground battles unfolded, especially during the resistance’s coordinated attacks on the western and eastern sectors. In the eastern sector, the resistance targeted encircling occupation forces in Deir Mimas and Ebel el-Saqi, alongside direct strikes on forces attempting to entrench themselves in Khiam. These attacks forced Israeli troops to retreat from several neighbourhoods in Khiam and withdraw equipment from the Deir Mimas- al-Qlaiaa – Tal al-Nahas triangle.
In the western sector, al-Bayyada witnessed large-scale confrontations where anti-tank missiles dominated. Six Merkava tanks were destroyed in these battles, underscoring the resistance’s tactical superiority.
